Gender and Climate Change Workshop in Nepal

On 18th August 2011, WOCAN together with IUCN/Nepal and ICIMOD conducted a workshop on Gender and Climate Change. The main objectives of the workshop were a) to create awareness about the importance and the linkages between gender and climate change and b) to bring together the concerned organizations, individuals and networks to support the government and its partners in integrating gender and social inclusion issues in the Climate Change related policies, agreements, negotiations and programmes at international, national and local levels.

Conclusions from the Africa Regional Dialogue on Forests, Governance and Climate Change October 11-12, 2010

The Africa Regional Dialogue aims to build on the successful experience of past events to foster the open and frank exchange of ideas and developments amongst regional decision-makers and civil society on the status of the climate change debate within Africa and its implications for rights, tenure and governance in the region.

Brief Report on Workshop on Gender in Climate Change and REDD+

WOCAN has been advocating for ensuring benefits for rural women of developing countries through REDD+ initiatives at the global level. WOCAN seeks to make REDD+ a mechanism suitable for women to improve their household economy and social well being by making their contributions to forest preservation valued and rewarded through payment for environmental services schemes.
