New publication on UN-REDD Asia/Pacific Work on Gender Women's Empowerment is now available in WOCAN`s web-site. The UN-REDD Programme is the United Nations Collaborative Initiative on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD). It builds on the convening role and technical expertise of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The Programme supports developing countries prepare and implement national REDD+ strategies.

WOCAN has been placed on the shortlist of civil society observer candidates for the Climate Investment Fund (CIF) Forest Investment Program Asia seat, which means we are being considered for a seat at the Forest Investment Program. This is great news, as we have been advocating for WOMEN to have a seat at this table for the last few years; there are currently hardly any women representatives at any of the funding mechanisms for REDD or climate change. But...we need your votes in order to win this seat, so please follow this link to vote by Jan. 31.

Presentation was on Climate Change Adaptation: Challenges and Opportunities of Integrating Gender. The panel was hosted at PACT and included Lamia El-Fattal, liaison officer for WOCAN in Washington DC and Gerald Nelson from IFPRI
