Rural Women’s Leadership Development: Training of Trainers’ Workshop Report, Feb 27-March 3, 2010
There were twenty three participants including eighteen women and five men from across the country. The two main objectives of the workshop were (a) to reflect on and understand what "women's leadership" means (b) to find out how men can support women's leadership. The five-day workshop focused on the following activities respectively: self-reflection; defining participants' understanding of leadership; defining the relationship between existing concepts of leadership and masculinities; reframing leadership; and building strategic skills for reframed leadership and action planning. Participants were made to think through and identify the social forces that shape the lives of men and women: particularly on the socialization processes that shape our understanding of masculinities and femininities.
