Network of Women Ministers and Leaders in Agriculture
A group of 40 women representing 26 organizations from 17 countries from five regions of the world organized themselves in a women’s caucus at the margins of the Civil Society Forum, a parallel Forum of the World Summit on Food Security.
WOCAN, together with International Alliance of Women facilitated the participation of this group during the Civil Society Forum.

At this crucial time of institutional reform and resource allocation, the agriculture sector must afford women producers recognition and value as primary food producers and environmental managers. The Network of Women Ministers and Leaders in Agriculture is an example of such collective action.

It was proposed that these recommendations should constitute an essential component of policy and management strategies. A reformed FAO, in a strengthened Committee on Food Security will be held accountable by women in agriculture.
