Lamia El-Fattal Masadiah, WOCAN Liaison Officer in Washington DC, attended the Global Gender Climate Alliance (GGCA) Steering Committee meeting on 23-24 January, 2013 at UNDP Headquarters in New York. The meeting focused mainly on elaborating the GGCA vision and action plan for the coming 3-5 years in the following areas:
• Advocacy and policy
• Climate finance
• Capacity building
• Knowledge management
The meeting focused on defining concrete activities for implementation at national, regional and international levels in light of growing membership, available resources, leadership and expertise.
In addition to long-term strategic planning, the meeting also defined priority activities and collaborative GGCA action for 2013. Decisions were taken regarding follow-up work to COP18 and defining GGCA engagement in international policy forums set for 2013, including COP19 and inter-sessionals, the Post-2015 Development Agenda, the IWECI Summit and the Meeting of the Network for Women Ministers and Leaders for the Environment (NWMLE).
