WEDO seeks to recruit and appoint regional/national gender and climate advocacy focal points. Technical expertise (e.g. on sustainable development programming, gender criteria and indicators, gender responsive budgeting, climate change adaptation and mitigation, technology, sustainable energy, UN processes) is strongly preferred, as well as a willingness and capacity to develop joint strategies and messages and the availability to travel to at least one international (UNFCCC) meeting and, where appropriate and to the extent funding is available, to complementary national or regional meetings. Advocacy focal points are expected to be able to track and share information regarding national level processes and progress on gender and climate issues, as well as stay up to date with relevant international processes through the WEDO/GGCA advocacy co-coordinators’, as well as the GGCA Secretariat’s, communications.
Please find attached Terms of Reference (ToR) for Regional/National gender and climate advocacy focal points for your consideration. The deadline to apply for this position is August 17, 2012. Please send to rachel@wedo.org a CV of a nominated focal point from your organization, along with a short cover letter indicating the preferred area of work (e.g. adaptation, finance, technology), as well as the availability to dedicate a portion of time for tasks referenced in this ToR. A short description of the organization’s work in the area of gender and climate change as well as previous experience with UNFCCC processes, especially related to gender and climate change, would be useful. A team of focal points will be selected to cover a range of regions, languages and expertise relevant to the UNFCCC negotiations.
If anyone of you is interested for the position, please apply and cc Jeannette (jeannettegurung@wocan.org) in the email application.
