Applications for participation in the 3rd Prepcom and the UNCSD2012 conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, must be received by 17:00 EST, 12 March 2012.

Criteria for Selection of Grassroots Women Organizers
- Experience as a grassroots organizer on issues relevant to women and sustainable development (e.g. water, land, food, forestry, oceans, renewable energy etc.);
- Experience with confronting unsustainable practices and implementing alternative strategies that strengthen the role and contribution of women to sustainable development;
- Willingness to participate in WMG activities/events, liaise with other major stakeholders, and represent the WMG at events including panels, discussions and press conferences;
- Willingness to engage in advocacy with governments and report on the inter-governmental process at WMG meetings; and
- Willingness to contribute to WMG planning activities leading up to and following both inter-governmental meetings in March and June 2012.
Criteria for Selection of Women Policy Advocates
- Experience with UN inter-governmental processes, including preparing position papers, statements, advocacy proposals, etc.
- Experience with reviewing relevant documents and consolidating a variety of comments (including from grassroots activists) in an effective format for government and CSO delegates;
- Experience working on issues relevant to women and sustainable development (e.g. water, land, food, forestry, oceans, renewable energy etc.);
- Willingness to participate in WMG activities/events, liaise with other major stakeholders, and represent the WMG at events including panels, discussions and press conferences;
- Willingness to engage in advocacy with governments and report on the inter-governmental process at WMG meetings; and
- Willingness to contribute to WMG planning activities leading up to and following both inter-governmental meetings in March and June 2012.
Application Process
An international selection committee representing women’s networks across the thematic areas of relevance to the Rio+20 process volunteered to assess the applications and assure an equitable and balanced selection process.
- For the Third Inter-sessional from 26-27 March 2012 in New York, final decisions will be announced by 5 March 2012.
- For the Third Preparatory Committee Meeting, Days of Dialogue on Sustainable Development and the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+20 from 13-22 June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, final decisions will be announced by 30 March 2012.
