Call for Good Practices in Gender and Climate Smart Agriculture in Asia

A gender-sensitive approach is crucial to achieving climate-smart agriculture. The roles, responsibilities and capabilities of men and women need to be well understood to ensure that both benefit from climate-smart agriculture practices. However, little research has been undertaken to understand how men and women are adapting to climate change, mitigating emissions and maintaining food security.

In order to better understand the potential value to integrating gender concerns into agriculture and climate change adaptation policies and projects, the Food and Agriculture Organization, jointly with Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management (WOCAN), are organizing a regional workshop on ‘Gender and climate-smart agriculture in ASEAN’, scheduled in September 2013 in Bangkok.

As part of preparatory work we are seeking your assistance in identifying good or promising practices where Climate-Smart Agriculture activities have incorporated a gender-sensitive approach.

Accordingly, we would like to invite you to share any information about relevant good practices you may know about by answering the survey at the following link:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Genderclimatesmartagriculture

Please, do not hesitate to share the survey weblink with other colleagues and organizations through your network. The survey will be closed on 25 June 2013.

While the focus is on ASEAN countries, good practices from other countries in the region are also welcome.

Thank you in advance for taking the time and sharing your knowledge.

For any clarification/questions or if you encounter technical problems with the survey, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Maria Lee, WOCAN (marialee@wocan.org)
