On 17 Oct, 2012, WOCAN organized the inception meeting in Sri Lanka for “Capacity Building for Women’s Leadership in Farmer Producer Organizations in the Asia and the Pacific Region” project supported by IFAD. The main objectives of the meeting was to
- Introduce WOCAN to IFAD project staffs from Sri Lanka and Maldives
- Introduce the Project’s concepts and methodologies
- Share the findings of the scoping study conducted in Sri Lanka and Maldives
- Develop selection indicators for the training participants
- Develop a schedule and timetable to roll out the trainings
There were total of 15 participants, IFAD project staff from Sri Lanka and Maldives attended the meeting. The participants developed the selection criteria for the trainers of the project and also nominated project staff to be trained from each of the IFAD projects in Sri Lanka and Maldives. The trainings will begin from January 2013.
