On 30 June -1 July, Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) held its Fifteenth Meeting of the FCPF Participants Committee (PC15) in Lombok, Indonesia. More than 110 representatives of governments, Forest-Dependent Indigenous Peoples and Forest Dwellers organizations, international and non-governmental organizations and the private sector participated in the meetings. One of the resolutions for the meeting was to invite a WomenObserver to all future PC meeting. WOCAN’s partner, the African Women’s Network for Community Management of Forests (REFACOF) has been negotiating with FCPF since October 2012 for this seat. According to Cécile NDJEBET, President of REFACOF, ‘With this resolution, WOMEN from the South will be seating from now, in FCPF meetings to make sure the interest of women (rural and indigenous) is known, raised, assured and fulfilled! This is a GREAT step towards Women rights in Natural resources access and ownership’.
