On 1-9 Dec,trainings on ‘Gender-Integrated Planning for Strengthening Local Organizational Capacity’ were rolled out in Polpithigama and Pilimathalawa Provincesin Sri Lanka for the IFAD project onCapacity Building for Women’s Leadership in Farmers’ Producer Organizationsin Asia and the Pacific Region.
The training was conducted by five IFAD staff trained by WOCAN. Dr. Barun Gurung, WOCAN Lead Trainer and Dibya Gurung, WOCAN Nepal Coordinator and Trainer, supervised the trainings.Altogether 58 farmers from 12 producer groups participated in the training program. The main focus of the training was to strengthen the governance producer groups and help them integrate gender in their planning process.
