WOCAN-IFAD Project ‘Capacity Building for Women’s Leadership in Farmers Producers Organization in Asia and the Pacific Region’, inception meeting was held on Aug 27, 2012 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The objective of the meeting was to formally introduce the project to IFAD personnel of Lao PDR and national project coordinators. The meeting was attended by WOCAN trainers Barun Gurung, Phanlany Khampoui and Somsouk Sananikone, WOCAN coordinators Abidah Billah Setyowati and Nisha Onta and representative of IFAD Lao PDR Konchay Vixathep and national project coordinator of RLIP project Mr. Sorichan.
The meeting was very timely as Mr. Sorichan is working on a report to submit to IFAD regarding the activity and budget plan for next year. Thus, Mr. Sorichan invited the WOCAN team to the project site for field visit and to develop a detailed implementation plan with RLIP project proponents. The WOCAN team of trainers will be traveling to Attapeu Province from Sept 3-6, 2012 for the field visit.
