Kanchan Lama, WOCAN member, contributed to the online discussion organized by FAO on ‘Making agriculture work for nutrition: Prioritizing country-level action, research and support’ facilitated by Anna Herforth and Cristina Lopriore. Kanchan highlighted the top 5 things that should be done inorder to maximize the impact of agricultural investment programs are:
• Gender disaggregated data• Gender responsiveness of service providers• Targeting women as the main stakeholders in agricultural program• Creating access to land, women friendly irrigation and credit• Strengthen women ‘s leadership capacity/networking
She also discussed what FAO can do to help country governments commit to action around your recommendations, and to help ensure implementation will be effective.
